Easy, Breezy, Peanut Butter Cookies
Won't stick to any roof

Contributed By Lindsay Galloway

Peanut Butter is a wonderful substance that is enjoyed by "kids" of all ages. The stereotype that peanut butter is a kid food, has forced many adults to be closet peanut butter freaks. Come out the closet with this recipe !

These cookies are guaranteed to be the easiest and best peanut butter cookies that you have ever made. In fact, they are so easy and stress-free that you will begin making them for every occasion. Wrapped in a cute tin, they make wonderful (and inexpensive) gifts. Your friends will think very highly of you!

Ingredients:

Steps:

While waiting for it to bake consider these peanut butter facts:

Stains: Peanut Butter:
To remove any possible peanut butter stain, blot with a vinegar solution. (1/3 cup of white vinegar and 2/3 cup of water)

Movies for inspiration: None, watch Cosby instead.
Bill Cosby:"Man cannot live by bread alone. He must have peanut butter!"

Amish Friendship Bread
Make and bake friendships

Contributed By Arlene Gregory

My daughter-in-law started this concoction through our family. Her teaching colleagues gave her the starter that has now made the rounds of our town. The bread, though quite tasty, eventually begins to wear at the friendships it creates, since it multiplies quickly. On a couple of occasions, the bags swelled and broke open -- all over the counter and down the face of the cabinets. Currently, I have eight Bundt pan size loaves of the stuff inthe freezer... and three bags fermenting on the counter. Add to that mess the nagging doubt that true Amish would not use the plastic bags, not to mention the instant vanilla pudding, and the whole thing become an enormous puzzle. I've made - and probably lost - new friends as they at first enjoy, and then phone in desperation, saying, "What do I do with all this stuff?

But the idea is good --- and the bread even better.

Amish Friendship Bread:

Do not refrigerate
Do not use a metal spoon

Note: the starter works a bit like a sourdough starter.

Amish Bread from the batch where I killed off the starter.... and put 16 loaves of the stuff in my freezer, after giving countless starters and loaves of bread to friends and neighbors. Start the recipe with 1/3 cup flour, l/3 cup sugar, and 1/3 cup milk. This is called a starter. Put these ingredients into a large size (I use the 1 gallon size zip top bags) plastic bag. Cross out each day as you follow directions

Day 1 Nothing
Day 2 Mush or Moosh the bag. For those unfamiliar with this term, it basically means to manipulate the bag's ingredients so they mix. Give your bread a massage!
Day 3 Mush the bag again
Day 4 Mush the bag again
Day 5 Mush the bag again
Day 6 Add: 1/3 cup flour
1/3 cup milk
1/3 cup white sugar
Mush the bag yet again
Day 7 Mush the bag and let air out twice each day
Day 8 Mush the bag and let air out twice each day
Day 9 Mush the bag and let air out twice each day
Day 10 Add: 1 cup flour
1 cup milk
1 cup white sugar

Stir and pour 4 starters (like the one you started with) into ziplock bags. You can give these to friends or start all over again.

Use what is left over, and in a large bowl and add:

Pre heat oven to 350 degrees

In another large bowl, mix dry ingredients:

Mix well with wet ingredients.Pour into two large, greased and sugared loaf pans, or one bundt pan. Fill to 2/3 full.Bake 325 degrees for one hour.

Stains: Dough on the countertop
Use flour and it will peel right off.

Movies for inspiration: Witness (1985)
John Book (Harrison Ford): How do I look - I mean, do I look Amish?
Rachel Lapp nods: You look plain.
