Titaniumware Cutlery A spoon that Uri Geller can't bend |
Titanium, a metal originally used in the aerospace industry, is known for its strengh
and light weight. It seem inevitable that space age technology enters the kitchen in our
every day lives.
The first thing you notice is that the cutlery is very light. This is not the cutlery to build
biceps with. To test it's strength I used a
spoon to scoop out frozen sorbet. I am sure you have tried this before, and seen your favorite
spoon's back bend horrifically backward. Ouch!
In the end the frozen sorbet did not break the titanium spoon's back and both the
spoon and I rested while the mango sorbet rested in my mouth.
While the spoons are solid, the forks are feeble.
When using ordinary force on the lightest skinny neck salad fork, it bends
at its weakest point in the neck.
Also the fork's prongs are slightly bendable forward/back but immovable when forced
to move left/right.
The coloring of the set we received was two tone titanium plating - gold and silver colors.
The gold tone is the full titanium nitride plating. This probably explains why the neck at the
silver area is the weakest point.
The cutlery comes in a 20 piece flatware set (setting for 4) with a 4 piece bonus.
Interlink offers 6 designs to chose from as well as custom plating for your existing cutlery.
What was most remarkable was the inexpensive price of the cutlery. The velvety box alone makes
the cutlery worth it.
If you are looking for a light inexpensive and strong cutlery we recommend to blast off
with the full titanium (gold colored) plating cutlery.
