Kraft Dinner Al Dente
Contributed by L. Davis
EVERYBODY eats(or at least grew up with) Kraft Dinner, but Kraft should be reprimanded for their on-package instructions.

Rule 1...LOTS of water, with a tsp. of oil and a good shot of salt, boiling vigourously. Add noodles, stir regularly and don't even THINK about 7 minutes! Start checking with a fork at about 4 1/2 minutes in, remove from heat when Al Dente! Strain through sieve and pour HOT water over. RETURN to saucepan on stove element, turned to low-medium. Add 1/4 lb. marg. or butter, at LEAST 1/3 c. milk and the cheese powder. Stir and serve on plates heated with hot water from the tap. Eat with dogs (fido or oscar), or better yet a nice Kulbasa or "red" sausage, microwaved. Kraft Dinner CANNOT be properly enjoyed without freshly sliced Tomato on the plate...it's like porridge without brown sugar. Bottom line... you want your Kraft Dinner piping hot and juicy... not gummy, dry and barely warm!

Reader Comments:

My kids grew up eating a lot of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. In fact, I think it's all they ate when they went away to college. Recently, our oldest daughter, who is a brand new Mom, came to spend two weeks with us in Florida with her 17 day old son. One night, my husband and I had to go out and I left a delicious dinner already prepared for our 30 year old. Well, I came home to find the dinner still in the frig and an empty box of mac and cheese in the waste paper basket. Guess I learned my lesson!!!! (Contributed by B. Hannan)

Eau de Garlic

Chew parsley after eating a garlicky dish to get rid of that garlic breath.

Touch the garlic smell away: Just rub your hands on your faucet or a stainless steel spoon and the odour will go away!!! (Contributed by C. Dacre)

Crushing Garlic:
Don't hassle with peeling garlic for crushing! Take a wide edge knife and pound the garlic under it with your fist! If that doesn't work, put the garlic in a plastic bag and pound it with a mallet or hammer...works great! You can also nuke it! (Contributed by P. Lester)

Meatloaf Muffins:
Using a muffin tin makes an excellent way to do individual meatloafs. (Contributed by S. Fredeen)

Hot Cherry Spread:
For a new party spread, try the unlikely combination of Maraschino cherries, cherry juice, lite cream cheese and (yes) creamed horseradish. Mix according to volume and experiement by taste. The result is terrific.(Contributed by A. Roscoe)
